01Getting started
What is OpslyIQ?
An all-in-one restaurant operations platform — time, scheduling, tasks, expenses, payroll with a built-in tax calculator, finance, inventory and AI — built for independent operators, and it scales cleanly from one location to many. Its edge is keeping everything in one system: the clock-in photo, the register void and the tip sit side by side, so something like the Profit Leak Engine is one look rather than a five-app project.
How is this different from the tools I already run?
Most restaurant tools each own one slice of the data — the P&L, the register, inventory, or the schedule. None keep the clock-in photo next to the void next to the tip. This was built with them side by side from the first day, which is why it can connect voids, missing inventory and odd labor in one place.
Do I have to replace my register or my payroll provider?
No. It works with the register you already run, and it hands payroll off to your existing provider or your accountant. It replaces the pile of single-purpose add-ons and the late-night spreadsheet — not the tools you trust.
How long does setup take?
One session. Add your location, connect your register, and see yesterday's sales the same day. The moment the register connects, the last 60 days are read on the way in and the leak analysis runs over them, so you usually see something before you have entered anything yourself.
02Pricing and the trial
How much does it cost?
$199 per active location, per month, flat. Your first location and your tenth cost the same, and every location gets the whole platform — there is no cheaper tier that withholds features. Month to month, self-serve. Franchise HQ and Enterprise are provisioned separately, on top; the pricing page draws that line exactly.
Is the free trial really free?
Yes. 14 days, the full product, no card. When it ends nothing is charged automatically, because there is no card on file to charge — access pauses until you decide to subscribe. There is no auto-conversion, by design: you decide to pay on purpose, or you do not pay at all.
Is it per location or per user?
Per location, never per seat, so a labor-heavy operator is not punished for staffing. Bring every employee you have. Terminated employees are retained for your tax records — W-2s, the IRS four-year rule — and cost you nothing.
03Payroll and compliance
Does it run payroll?
No, and it is honest about that. It computes the estimate — federal, FICA and your state's taxes, including the ones you pay as the employer — and produces an accurate take-home figure, including real-world setups like a tip-funded pool with a $0 base where the employer covers the difference up to the floor. For filing you export to your processor or your accountant. A direct connector to Gusto or Finch is designed and not built; when it exists, this answer changes. It never fakes a submitted-payroll success.
Which states does payroll cover?
Federal and FICA run nationwide. State withholding is complete in 13 — Georgia, Pennsylvania, Illinois, North Carolina, plus the 9 states with no income tax to withhold (Alaska, Florida, Nevada, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, Wyoming), where a federal-only estimate is the complete answer. California is in preview, and more roll out one at a time. We never show a state number we have not verified against that state's own tax authority — if yours is not live, we say so rather than guess.
Is the compliance check legal advice?
No. It flags our read of the applicable labor rules so you can catch a problem early. It is not a legal ruling, and it is not a substitute for counsel — confirm anything that matters with your own.
04The leak, and the AI
What is the Profit Leak Engine?
A nightly check that connects register voids, missing inventory and odd labor patterns, scored by location and day, with the dollar impact and the shift it lines up with. It surfaces the money in plain English instead of at tax time.
Will it accuse my staff of stealing?
No, and this is core to how it is built. When a signal fires you are shown a neutral pattern with its evidence — magnitude, confidence and the exact rows — and it never concludes wrongdoing or names somebody as guilty. A person investigates and decides. Any ranking of people also carries a fairness check, so it does not simply flag whoever works the hardest shifts.
What is demand intelligence?
The forward-looking half. It combines each location's own busy-and-slow pattern with the holidays and events coming up, and tells whoever can act on it: the owner hears that Saturday is short two servers and what that costs, the server hears that Sunday brunch is worth picking up. Same forecast, routed to the person who can do something. Included, not a metered add-on.
Is the AI real, or a dashboard with a label on it?
Real, and deliberately bounded. Answers are grounded in your own rows — every number traces back to one — and it abstains rather than guess when it cannot answer. Asked to take an action, it previews the change, checks your permissions, executes under your access rules, logs it and lets you undo it. Included at roughly 100 questions per location each month, pooled and reset monthly. We do not put a number on screen that the software did not compute.
05Data and security
Is my data secure?
Each operator's data is walled off from every other, enforced in the database on every read and every write rather than hidden in the application. Sensitive values — Social Security numbers, bank details, register tokens — go into an encrypted write-only vault, never a plain-text column and never exposed to your browser. Two-factor login and a full activity log are shipped and exercised. The security page lists what is not in place as plainly as what is.
Where is SOC 2?
Not certified, and not in an observation window. A Type II report requires one and ours has not started, so nobody can hand you a report and we will not imply otherwise. The technical work underneath it — access control, tenant isolation, audit evidence — is built and documented, which is the part that would be examined. That is a worse sentence than a badge would be, and it is the true one.
Do you support single sign-on?
It is built on our side and has never been run against a real corporate directory, because that needs an Okta or an Entra we do not have yet. Directory sync and two-factor login are shipped and exercised. If single sign-on is a hard requirement for you, say so before you start rather than after.
Is the clock-in photo facial recognition?
No. It is a photo on file for a manager to review. No face geometry is extracted and we do not describe it as biometric. If facial matching is ever offered it will be behind explicit written consent and reviewed jurisdiction by jurisdiction first. Geofenced clock-in uses precise location for exactly one purpose — verifying the punch — and it is treated as the sensitive data it is.
Who owns employee data?
The employer. Most data is processed on the employer's behalf, so an employee's data-rights request routes to the employer as the controller — we never unilaterally alter your system of record. You own your data, can export it, and can ask us to delete it. We do not sell it and we do not use it to train third-party models.
06Product and scale
What is live now, and what is not?
Nationwide, web-first: demand, menu engineering, fully loaded labor, the auto-scheduler, anti-buddy-punch, the payroll estimate and tips, register reports, daily close and finance. Honestly not finished: cash leak, payroll, payroll filing, accounting — each one's real state is published on the home page and maintained from the codebase rather than from this answer. Franchise hierarchy and the Enterprise track are built and provisioned rather than self-serve.
How does it stop buddy punching?
Three checks at the punch: where they are, a photo, and a boundary around the restaurant that blocks an off-site clock-in — plus a review list for the ones it flags.
Is there a mobile app?
Your team works from their phone today. It installs to the home screen in one tap straight from the browser, with no app store and no download, and a magic link drops a new hire directly into mobile clock-in — then their schedule, shift pickup, tips and earnings. Native iOS and Android apps are planned and not built, and we are not going to give you a date we cannot keep.
Which registers do you support?
Clover is live and reconciled against a real merchant's own reports. Square is connectable and built to the same standard, but no Square merchant has connected yet, so it has not been proven against a live seller — the integrations page is precise about that difference. Toast requires partner certification and is not built. Because the register plugs in through one seam, adding another does not disturb the labor, scheduling or payroll side.
Several locations, and can it pass a security review?
Own-store rollups across your locations are included. A brand over independently-owned franchisees adds Franchise HQ. For a formal security review the Enterprise track adds directory sync, enforced two-factor with audit, and separation-of-duties governance — and the security page tells you which parts of that are not finished. Bring your requirements and you will get the real answer.
